Ill have to wait and see if the -B256 setting produces pesky artifacts with altpreset not designed to accomodate it. If not it would seem to follow to use 256 as the bitrate ceiling for everything except stuff for studio or ultra hifi applications -that pretty much need wav anyway. I have wondered what the purpose of the 320 frames in vbr is since I remmember reading that transparent cd/mp3 listening had been achieved at 256 cbs or is that just a r3mix myth? It seems a perfect compromise then to use the max bitrate -B256 recommended here, combined with the -alt-preset standard or extreme vbrs ,generously & highly tuned by people with better ears and amps than I.Īs well as help fudged mp3 players, this setting will presumably lower the average bitrate of the file a little too. I do like the idea of vbr because in theory it should be more efficient, but Im ripping my cds for fileshare too and compatibility is important to me -It would be nice not to dump all the mp3 players that have problems with vbr. No ability to register for the PowerPackLAME mp3 and limited use of the mp3PRO encoder I'm sure isn't what is intended.I surfed for ages to find my dream lame setting and think i seen it in this thread so registered just to comment. And mono mp3 encodings aren't acceptable either (that's all that is available in this released version).
#NERO POWERPACK LAME MP3 ENCODER UPDATE#
I read in another thread about Nero 7 that a major update will be released on the 26th when the downloaded product is scheduled for release. Many things just aren't working properly. But there's no way this thing should have been released in this condition. Nero Showtime works (not that I use that for my DVD's but I tested it and it works), and I was able to use NeroExpress for adding files to a multisession cdr and it burning it properly. And NeroHome isn't working right (can't play anything). And we can't use NeroExpress without it breaking the ability to open Nero Burning Rom, unless we go into the Express options and restore defaults every time we want to switch to Nero Burning Rom. So there's no way to encode wav to mp3 in my full retail version of Nero 7 Ultra Edition.

When I tried to install my old mp3PRO plugin, the plugin's installation program popped up a message saying it's only installable in Nero 5.5-6.9. None of the stereo or higher bitrate encodings show up in the drop down. Then I tried using the built in (according to the Quick Start manual) mp3PRO plugin. I tried it in both Firefox (default) and, by copying and pasting the link, in Internet Explorer.

Then, after filling out the form and clicking continue, it opened a web page saying it couldn't register it because of an error and to try again later.

When it went to the registration page and automatically put in my serial number it got one of the letters wrong. Starting from the NBR extras tab, I first tried to use the Nero PowerPack Lame encoder. Now I wanted to test encoding wave to mp3. NeroHome will still not open media files.

I managed to work around the Nero Burning Rom error when opening bug by restoring defaults in Nero Express options. I have the Nero 7 Ultra Edition bought from BestBuy.
